About TeaPOT

The TeaPOT Research Group is part of the Dublin Institute of Technology's School of Electrical Engineering Systems. The group is based in the Focas Institute, near DIT's Kevin St campus. The group was established in May 2007 to consolidate its members' ongoing research into technology that interacts with humans or with the human body - what we call People Oriented Technology (POT). The group's activities include research and teaching in biomedical signal engineering, human-machine interfaces, assistive technology, rehabilitation engineering and health informatics. Members of the TeaPOT group are currently involved in a number of research iniatives including the HEaRT Iniative and EHRland.

What does TeaPOT stand for?

TeaPOT is a recursive acronym: "TeaPOT, engineering advancing People Oriented Technology".

Festival of Thought - DIT Kevin St, Friday June 19th 2009

TeaPOT hosted an event called Festival of Thought on Friday 19th June 2009 in DIT Kevin St. The theme of the event was Technology and Society. Over the course of the day, speakers from a range of disciplines gave short (10 minute) presentations on exciting, original ideas. Unlike a conventional conference, this event specifically focused on sharing and discussing ideas, rather than presenting completed research. Topics on the day included,

The Festival of Thought was a day of open-minded, enjoyable and inspirational idea sharing, which we plan to repeat in June 2010.

The event was jointly organised by DIT's TeaPOT (People Oriented Technology) research group and NUI Maynooth's Biomedical Engineering Research Group. The Festival of Thought is completely free of charge.
